A seasoned professional with varied experience of more than 40 years in the area of Power Transmission, Hydro Power Projects, Power Regulatory affairs, Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations and Organisational Development; he served as the Chairman and Managing Director of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, a‘Navratna’ CPSE, one of the world’s largest transmission utilities and Central transmission utility of India. He also served as Director – Personnel, NHPC Ltd; Chairman of Powerlinks Transmission Ltd.besides working with Steel Authority of India Ltdand NTPC Ltd during his long exemplary career. He has immensely contributed to the development of power sector as a key member in various Committees related to policy and regulatory areas and has been involved in the overall planning and coordination of all the facets of power sector of the country in its entirety.An astute leader and a people’s person; he has been a strong votary of human development and introduced several new concepts of employee development along with initiating several progressive HR policies in the organizations that he served. Post his superannuation, he also served as Chairman of Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) where he helmed all the activities aimed at consolidating the laws relating to generation, transmission, distribution, trading and use of electricity and generally for taking measures conducive to development of electricity industry, promoting competition therein, protecting interest of consumers and supply of electricity to all areas, rationalization of electricity tariff, ensuring transparent policies regarding subsidies, promotion of efficient and environmentally benign policies, etc.
He served as Director – HR in Bharat Electronics Limited, a ‘Navratna Defence PSU; for 12 years. During this long stint at a strategic level, he wasresponsible for formulation of business strategy for expansion and growth along withdeveloping a culture that enables employees to perform in accordance to the organization’s objectives. He effectively planned, designed, developed and evaluated human resource-related initiatives that supported BEL’s strategic goals. Additionally, he led performance management, talent assessment, and effective labor relationships, including negotiations. Due to his unparalleled contribution in the field of HR, he received Gold Trophy of "SCOPE Meritorious Award for Best Practices in Human Resource Management" for BELin 2013 by the then President of India. Prior to this, he served as Group General Manager – HRD in Container Corporation of India where as a member of the initial core team, he was involved in the setting up of Inland Containers Depot (ICD), Container Freight Station (CFS) and Portside Container Terminals (PSCTs) including fine tuning the systems and procedures to be adopted in addition to HR practices. He was conferred the `Distinguished Fellowship` of the Institute of Directors (IOD) for the year 2015-16. Post superannuation, he served as the Advisor – HR in BEML Ltd.
He served as Chairman & Managing Director of Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Ltd. (BECIL) – a Central PSU, under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. While helming the organization, he was overseeing all aspects related to Engineering, Business Expansion and Diversification along with Corporate Strategy and Governance. He also served in Doordarshan in the capacity of Dy. Director General (Engineering) looking after the Operation & Maintenance of the entire 66 Studio Centres of Doordarshan network.He was associated as Member of Technical Committees’ for formulation of specifications and technical evaluation of Digital / High Definition Studio Equipment. During his stint with the Public Service Broadcaster, he acquired wealth of technical prowess. He was also associated with many of the international sporting events like Commonwealth Games, Delhi – 2010, World Military Games (Hyderabad), Commonwealth Youth Games, Pune – 2008 & Asian Games (Doha & Guangzhou) – 2006 & 2010 including leading a ‘technical team’ for the customized coverage of Beijing Olympics, 2008.He has also served as Honorary Secretary of Broadcast Engineering Society India (BES). He is a fellowmember of The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE). He has contributed Technical Papers to ABU and many other journals.Emotionally intelligent, patient and calm under pressure; he is now involved into strategy advisory to various conglomerates.
An accomplished and discerning FCMA, FCS, FIOD and LLB; he served as the Chairman and Managing Director of Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Prior to this, he worked in Bharat Dynamics Limited (a Defence PSU) and Sponge Iron India Limited. A “Turnaround Expert”, he has an industry experience of 40 years and has performed various top management roles covering various functional areas such as Materials Management, Commercial, Legal, Taxation, Secretarial, HR, Production in addition to core Finance & Accounting Function, at various positions. Healso served as a Director on the Board of National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation and Independent Director on the Board of B.S. Limited.He has been a member of various National and International organisations, including the W.H.O, Geneva. He has been the recipient of numerous national and international awards, including an award for his excellent performance in turning around a Sick PSU into Miniratnastatus PSU, by the then President of India. Presently, he serves as Vice-Chairman in Northstar Homes and an Independent Director on the Board of National Research Development Corporation (a PSU under the Ministry of Science & Technology).He is also holding the position of Honorary Chief Executive Officer of Council for Green Revolution, an environmental protection organisation. He is the Chairman of MSME Advisory Committee, Indian Chambers of Commerce, Hyderabad Division. He also isa ‘hat trick’ chairman of Hyderabad Chapter of ICAI.
